Believing Without Belonging?

One thing those of us in the Church hang onto is the belief that people stil believe on God but choose not to work this out in churches. However it would appear that this may not be the case. Recent research contadicts this suggesting belief in God is falling faster than Church attendance. It would be interesting to see the questions asked and look at the sample questioned(even though it was quite large) before making to many assumptions from it.

This kind of links in nicley to discussions on mission and how we do it in a changing culture. Just reading Stuart Murray Church after Christendom which contributes to this debate. However if you look at the Christ Church Community blog there is a good debate about mission today going on there.

Thanks Stuart for drawing our attention to the article in The Guardian. On face value this report makes very depressing reading. Does the United Reformed Church stand a chance? However Jim's point is well made that in any research the output depends on the input.
Off to the news agents to get my copy of Church Times.
